Who We Are

Founded in 2001, FOYER DE JEUNES TRAVAILLEURS is more than just a residence. It is a place of welcome, support, and growth for young adults navigating the crucial and often challenging transition from adolescence to working life. Located in Delle, in the heart of the Territoire de Belfort, our association exists to provide young workers with the stability, resources, and sense of belonging that are often missing during this pivotal phase of life.

We are a team of dedicated individuals—staff, volunteers, and community members—who believe that every young person deserves a secure place to live, opportunities to develop personally and professionally, and a chance to connect with others in a supportive environment. Our mission is deeply rooted in the values of solidarity, inclusion, autonomy, and empowerment.

Over the years, we have become a reference point for young people who, for various reasons, are looking for both housing and guidance as they begin their independent lives. Whether they are entering their first job, starting vocational training, or engaging in apprenticeships, our residents know they are not alone. FOYER DE JEUNES TRAVAILLEURS provides more than shelter—it offers a path forward.

Our History

The FOYER DE JEUNES TRAVAILLEURS was born from a simple but powerful idea: that young people entering the workforce should not have to choose between a roof over their heads and their aspirations. In 2001, a group of local leaders, educators, and social workers came together with the conviction that secure housing, paired with a community-based support system, could make a lasting impact on the lives of young workers.

From modest beginnings, we have grown into a respected association recognized for its commitment to youth development. Our building at 4 Rue du Paquis in Delle has become a familiar place for many—a home, a starting point, a safe space to regroup and move forward.

Over the years, we have welcomed hundreds of young people, each with their own story. Some come from nearby towns; others arrive from farther afield, often facing financial difficulties, family challenges, or simply the uncertainties of early adulthood. We have listened, adapted, and evolved with each passing year, responding to the changing needs of youth in a dynamic social and economic environment.

Our Residents

The residents of FOYER DE JEUNES TRAVAILLEURS are at the center of everything we do. They are typically between the ages of 16 and 30, working in various sectors such as construction, retail, administration, hospitality, and healthcare. Some are in apprenticeships or internships, while others are already employed full-time but lack stable housing.

Many of our residents arrive with limited resources, and they find in the Foyer not only accommodation but a chance to rebuild or launch a more stable life. What unites them is the desire to grow, the willingness to work, and the need for a place where they feel safe, respected, and supported.

We view each resident as an individual with potential. Our approach is not simply to offer a place to sleep but to engage with each person to identify their goals and offer guidance, encouragement, and practical support.

What We Offer

FOYER DE JEUNES TRAVAILLEURS provides individual accommodation units that are clean, safe, and affordable. Our living spaces are designed to respect privacy while fostering community through shared facilities and common areas. The physical space is only one part of our offering. What truly defines our identity is the human presence—our staff and volunteers who are there to listen, advise, and assist when needed.

We believe in fostering independence while ensuring that help is never far away. Residents can turn to us for support in many areas of life: administrative assistance, budgeting advice, job-seeking guidance, emotional support, and conflict resolution. While we do not replace family, we strive to create a network of care and stability that makes a difference.

We also encourage active participation in community life. Through meetings, workshops, and informal gatherings, residents have the opportunity to engage with others, build friendships, and contribute ideas to improve the collective living environment. This spirit of mutual respect and cohabitation helps build confidence, communication skills, and social integration.

Our Philosophy

At FOYER DE JEUNES TRAVAILLEURS, we operate on the belief that young people are not problems to be solved—they are resources to be nurtured. Society often overlooks the needs of young adults, expecting them to quickly become self-sufficient without offering the tools or environment to make it possible. We work to fill that gap by offering a stable base and the kind of presence that young workers often lack in their early professional lives.

We promote autonomy, but we do not abandon. We value responsibility, but we do not judge. We encourage initiative, but we provide structure. These are the principles that guide our actions every day.

In a world where isolation and insecurity can easily take hold, our Foyer stands as a place of connection and hope. It is not a final destination but a platform for building confidence, structure, and independence.

Our Role in the Community

Our association is firmly embedded in the local and regional fabric. We collaborate with employers, training centers, social services, municipal authorities, and other associations to ensure that our residents receive the support and opportunities they need to succeed. These partnerships are essential in helping young workers overcome the challenges of housing, employment, and personal development.

We also act as advocates, raising awareness of the realities faced by young people who are entering adult life without the safety nets that others might take for granted. Our presence in Delle and beyond is a reminder that housing and support for young workers is not a luxury—it is a necessity.

Looking Ahead

As we look to the future, we remain committed to our founding values while adapting to the evolving needs of youth in a changing world. Whether through new housing projects, innovative support services, or greater community engagement, FOYER DE JEUNES TRAVAILLEURS will continue to stand alongside young people as they build the lives they envision.
